Fall Retreat

Hi! I hope everyone is getting excited about the retreat, I know we are! I will be contacting everyone in the next few days with final information. Our sample is made from Lori Holt’s Cozy Christmas fabric. I will post a picture of the kit by tomorrow, for those interested. The quilt for this retreat will not be Summer or Winter. It is Winter themed, and features some sampler blocks, but it is a much easier quilt than the two previous ones. Winter and Summer are coming for the 2017 Spring and Fall retreats. Those of you who have attended the previous retreats will know what I am talking about. I will post a picture at the bottom of this post for those of you who have not attended. You may be interested in joining us next year for the remaining two. I have several inquiries about patterns for the Autumn and Spring quilts. They are not ready for resale yet. I am still working on some corrections.

I apologize to everyone who has tried to contact me either via email or phone. I’ve been MIA for the past few months. Many of you know that my 20 year old son came to live with me last November after a hospital stay. He did not recover and required full-time care. As a woman and more importantly a Mom, you often take on the world, thinking you can handle it all. When I made the decision in February to close the store, it was in part due to having to care for my son. With a full-time job and his care, plus a daughter still at home, I had to let go of the store. Unfortunately, things related to some of the ongoing store business were pushed aside. I apologize to anyone that was inconvenienced.

I have spent the summer with my kids. I felt it was important for us to be together as a family as this was the last summer of any kids living at home. I had to make the difficult decision to place my son in assisted living. He has been there for a few weeks. I appreciate everyone who has helped me, counseled me, been there for me! I have some great friends. My oldest daughter graduated from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks), and just arrived in Wisconsin (Go Badgers), to attend graduate school. I will be taking my youngest daughter up to Oregon (Go Ducks) this week, to attend school. Leaving me with an empty nest.

I don’t usually share personal information, but I think in light of some of the questions people have had, it was important.

So it looks like I am going to have time on my hands and I am ready to get back to quilting! I’m excited about what lies ahead and can’t wait for the next retreat.

Our email address if you need to contact me is starsandscrapsquiltshop@msn.com. I will post a phone number when I post the final retreat info.

Here are the pictured of the Autumn and Spring quilts as promised.
